Peace seems to be the ultimate goal of humanity. This is easier said than of course, everyone has this fascination with it and yet it seems out of reach.  Why is it that we want peace?  Is it for its deep routed values or because it benefits us in other ways?  Logic would dictate that the ultimate betterment of the whole would be to obtain peace for survival purposes.   Most of the world shows that in trying to create peace they tend to do the opposite.  Did our ancestors create this notion of peace from the time of their creation?  From the time of the Neanderthals to what we are today as Homo sapiens sapiens did we think of peace the same.  The idea of peace is in itself beautiful; but obtaining it comes at a great price.  Look at cultures around the world, their belief systems are not the same, yet they all seem to involve peace as a main subject of their beliefs.  This arise problems with others all the time.  Take for example the crusades or even the Spanish inquisition.  Even though there are setbacks in obtaining peace I believe that it is still possible to achive but only if we truly, and I mean truly want it.

  1. I think that the reason that peace is so far out of reach is because no country wants to give up its sense of power. In order for peace to exist world, the world would have to agree on a centralized government. This leaves the question, which country is going to lead this government. The sad thing is that if peace existed, the technological advances would be endless. Today countries are too worried about making money and the conflicts in present. Hopefully we don’t wait for a tragic disaster to unite the world, like Septembers 11, did for the United States.

  3. I like the way you are asking yourself so many questions and makes us wonder about it. It goes well with your title. And makes the reader think about the many faces peace has.

  5. I agree with you when you say that wanting peace and trying to achieve it comes at a price. That instead of actually having peace, we do create more problems along the way. And its true, only if we really really want it will we then be able to obtain it.

  6. I think a lot of people will do everything possible to find peace, is something that we all want to find. Maybe, if we stop looking and fighting for peace we will find it.

  7. I agree with you, peace is beautiful though there is a great price to obtain it. It is very sad to see everything that is happening with battles and wars, knowing that is far from creating peace.
